Dominique Piron, a winegrower in Morgon for 14 generations, founded Maison Piron in 1971. He sold it in 2020, retaining the family’s 35 hectares of vines. His Cinq Terres is a blend of five parcels, with soils ranging from granite to schist and iron oxide. In 2021, the wine is ripe and rich, with pink pepper spice from the Gamay, earthy tannins and a liqueur-like length of fruit. The wine is beautifully intense without being aggressive, with a crisp, clean finish.
