And to produce own white wine…
The Chardonnay in Beaujolais
Genetically, Gamay and Chardonnay are children of Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc, a grape variety from Croatia.
Chardonnay is a world grape variety, suitable for many clay and limestone soils.
This grape variety produces excellent wines in Beaujolais on the southern, rather calcareous, part of the region, and on the clay islands in the north around the Crus area. This is the case in our Clos du Vieux Bourg in Corcelles.
